Merry CHristmas!!!!

I just have to say this is the best time of the year. Most everyone seems happier at Christmastime. I love it so much. I think it comes with the territory of having a Christmas fanatic as a mother. I love the Christmas trees (REAL trees....fake is just not the same), the egg nog, the decorations, Santa, the snow, the pictures of Jesus, and the lights, the cocoa....everything about it. Anyways, as I am getting ready to go to bed on this beautiful white Christmas Eve, anxiously waiting for Santa to come, I thought I'd take the opportunity to wish you all a very wonderful Christmas! Thank you very much for being my friends and family. I'm very grateful for everything you do for me. I hope you remember the true meaning of Christmas, and the birth of Jesus. I am so grateful for the gift of the Savior. Merry Christmas and have a fabulous New Year! Love, Ke'ala

Ranting....

So apparently there are people who read my blog....I'm not sure why. THis shows your true friendship to me because I'm fairly certain what I have to say is not that interesting. ANyways I have decided to start it back up for all those loyal readers....

I guess what I have to say today is just me ranting about something that has been on my mind for a while. It was sparked by reading a friends note on facebook about gay marriage. I guess it comes with the territory of living in a pretty liberal place, and I should definitely get used to it. SO here goes....Marriage is between a man and a woman. THis is black and white. Today's world may try to blur right and wrong to say that people that are homosexual deserve equal marriage rights or that it is discriminating against them. THis is so not true. I don't believe that it is discrimination to protect a sacred, GOD-given institution. With that said, I don't think there is anything wrong with homosexual PEOPLE, but the act itself is a sin. I just about flipped when I read another person's facebook that talked about how homosexual people were sick and evil. THis is just not the case. Some of the best, nicest, greatest people I have ever met have been gay. I think everyone needs to be a little more loving and open. THe institution of gay marriage may be wrong, but it is just as wrong to belittle, joke, or be rude to someone just because they are gay. It makes me angry when people use religion as their reason for why this is okay. Jesus loves everyone equally. He doesn't love me more because I'm not homosexual. When he came to earth he taught the people who needed him most. He taught the poor, afflicted, and those that had sinned, and he loved them. He became there friends. He didn't say that their sins were okay, but he didn't belittle them either.

So....I think that just about ends my ranting.

San Diego

So just got back from San Diego....(I mean HOW BORING!!!! Who would want to spend 3 days in 60 degree weather on the beach when I could've been in Seattle where it was raining?) Got to spend sometime with the fam and my friend Laura Ann.....saw Shamu...touched a bat ray...got attacked by a killer squirrel....I'm just excited I got to go get my rolled tacos and guacamole. BUT SERIOUSLY! I almost died. We were driving to San Diego from the OC and we stop at this viewpoint along the way. I'm minding my own business and Laura's taking pictures of the birds, when out of NOWHERE this psycho, bloodthirsty, rabies-infected demon of an animal runs and attacks me. I could clearly tell this beast was out to get me....I ran for my life (I had to push Laura out of my way...) and the whole entire time Laura is TAKING PICTURES of the devil squirrel, as if it were cute. BUT I knew underneath its fuzzy exterior was a killer. Don't worry I did get to San Diego in one piece. The rest of the trip went smoothly--thanks to MY superior navigating skills, though my mom refuses to believe. I did get yelled out, however, when Laura and I made fun of the Shamu show. I mean I have nothing against the whale, but the writers were a little cheesy....Just know guys, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF YOU JUST BELIEVE! ; )

The Beginning

So...I was sitting here working on my IOP (Individual Oral Presentation), which in non-IB language is a really long, CRAZY important 15 minute presentation, and I'm kind of bored. SO what the heck? Why not write a blog....No one will probably read it anyway, but here is my page of comeplete randomness....

Here are my thoughts on life for today:

Well I'm writing my IOP on The Crucible, a play which was written by Aurther Miller. It was pretty much his crucade against the Red Scare and McCarthyism in the 50's, but it's about the Salem Witch Trials. It's a really intersting play. You should all read/watch it. Anyways, it got me thinking about his themes in the book--like fear, greed, jealousy. All of which is totally applicable today...How far are we willing to go for money? Land? Power? Reputation? Would we brand someone a witch, and not care what if they were jailed and hung? Or perhaps, we would just be one of the people that stood by and let it happen. We knew it was wrong, but just let it happen so we could protect ourselves... Not sure where I am in all of this, but it's interesting... Just a thought.

"They first came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me — and by that time no one was left to speak up."-Martin Niemoller
